threes

A half day Montessori program for our littlest learners focusing on developing independence, physical coordination, and respect for others.

the experience

Three-year-old children are a fully integrated part of our Primary classroom. They will work alongside the other Primary children while participating in hands-on Montessori lessons developed specifically for their age group. Our three-year-olds will engage in a variety of activities such as:

  • Practical Life Lessons

  • Letter Sound Knowledge

  • Geography

  • Sensorial Exploration

  • Math Concepts

  • Science Concepts

  • Food Preparation

Children will build early literacy skills through the Souns program, developed by our founder and Primary Guide, Brenda Erickson, generally becoming early readers. They will also be given more academic lessons as their focus and self-control increase.

Age is not the principle factor for readiness to enter the Primary Classroom, but independence with dressing, use of the bathroom, and ability to follow basic directions.

This is generally between 3 and 4 years of age but will vary for each child.

Read more about when a child is ready for Primary here.

Our 3-year-olds enjoy a half day program (8:00am-12:00pm) five days a week

and we follow a quarterly calendar which can be seen here.
