Extended Day - The Counterpane After-school Program (CAPS), from 3:00 pm until 6:00 pm, is for 5 through 12 year olds. It is extremely limited in size and is designed to accommodate only those families in which both parents work outside the home and require care for their children beyond school hours. Students must register and be accepted for CAPS on a quarterly basis. There are no additional fees for this program.
The state regulates that children 3 and 4 years of age may be in a school for only 4 hours a day. Extended Day for 3 and 4 year olds is not possible without becoming a licensed, state regulated, day care center, which would dramatically alter the teaching practices of our AMI Montessori classroom environment. Counterpane is committed to the purest AMI Montessori experience we can offer. Our reputation and the success of our entire program pivots on our good practice in those early years. We choose to commit to quality, not convenience, and do not intend to be licensed as a day care facility.
Upper School students are able to stay at school after hours only for academic work and for other school related activities.
Lunches - Students bring their own lunches. Health conscious menus, please!
Financial Aid - Limited financial aid may be available at times for students with proven need. Counterpane is a member of School and Student Service for Financial Aid (SSS). Application for financial aid is made through SSS. More information is available upon request.
